It was easy to apply and was even easier to punch it up even more with some of Stampin' Up!'s adorable ribbon. My Inkin' Cute Craft Room Display Boards

My goal in my Inkin' Cute Craft Room is to have plenty of inspiration for me and my customers throughout the space. I love these boards because they allow me to showcase multiple cards. I love this shelf that I got at a big box store years ago. I originally purchased two of them, but one got damaged in the move (Pretend there are two of them). Each cubby hole has a basket or mini drawer that holds items that are smaller and are easy to lose track of.
The Memo boards were very simple to create:

I covered a piece of cardboard with very thin Quilting batting and the hot glued Stampin' Up!'s Flirtatious Fabric over it (the pieces weren't large enough to cover the space I wanted so I sewed two pieces together).

I laid the ribbon out the way I wanted it and the stuck brads through all of the layers. I used the piercing tool to put a hole in it before I put the brad in.

I glued the ends of the ribbon on the back and the put it in a frame!
This is a super inexpensive way to make your own board and make it the size you want!!!

My Inkin' Cute Craft Room Big shot/cutting area

This is probably the area in my Inkin' Cute Craft Room that I am the most excited about....and will take the most imagination on your part.... I am not done with it yet!

This is my Big Shot and Cutting Station.

I plan on having a desk custom built for the space so I can sit and prep for classes, cut with my paper trimmer and Big Shot things until my heart is content!!!.

The bars that I have my punches on will stay where they are, I love how well organized they are and right where I can just grab them.

Right above the punch racks we are going to put in some shelving that I can put my Big Shot die boxes on.
I got these pencil holders at a local dollar store and added my own little touch with some pieces I cut out with the Island Floral Big Shot Die. They already have holes in them, so it was very simple to attach the flowers to them with a rhinestone brad.

My Inkin' Cute craft room Shelves

Here we go...... My Inkin' Cute Craft Room is done!!!! I showed you the shelves after we got them in, but you have not seen what I put in and on them. So the next SEVERAL posts will show you my shelving, storage, decorating and much more. I hope you enjoy the tour.

This is the shelving unit as a whole. The two cupboard style ones were gifts to me after my hubby graduated with his masters... a reward for supporting him through the long schooling process. Anyone who has been a student wife knows it is not an easy accomplishment!!! The open shelves were sort of inherited with the house we just moved into...... I can't believe how well they work with the ones I already had. I seriously think they look like a matching set.

I use the far left one for all of my clear stamp storage. I love how compact the cases are and how easy it is to store. I also have the bags that I pack for workshops stored on the bottom two shelves.
Inside the cupboards are not so pretty....just a heads up, that's what doors are for right? I have a basket with my adhesives and all of the stampin' wheels and handles on the top shelf. The other shelves have prospective projects..... wreaths, books to cover, baby food jars etc....
On the center portion of my shelving I have my accessory caddies on top. On the shelf just below I keep my sponges and sponge daubers in the little pink drawers. In the pink basket I have my accessories that don't have containers to fit in the accessory caddy.

Somehow I lost my ribbon holders in the move, so they are just lined up on the shelf.

We are now on to the other cupboards. Once again..... I love that they close.

The top two are project that I am in the process of working on or are waiting to go to a great hostess!

Under those I have all of my sewing things....Material, needles, sewing machine etc. I love having an actual place to store my sewing machine. In my apartment it sat on my craft table and found a temporary home in my bedroom when I had classes and workshops.
The last portion is my wood stamp sets. They are a bit more bulky, however I love the wood sets for the ones my kids stamp with. They are always knocking the clear stamps off the blocks!
On top of my shelving I store all of my cards I have made, and my card swaps from demonstrator events. I love having a stockpile of cards to choose from when I am in need of that perfect card.

My Inkin' Cute Craft Room Couch

In my apartment my craft area was in my living room. The space was crowed, but I loved having a place where my husband and/or children could sit and talk with me comfortably while I created. I am so fortunate to be able to have my own space while still enabling my family to visit with me during my crafting time.

It is funny how one mans junk is another mans treasure. My friend/downline Erika was going to get rid of this couch, seeing as how it didn't work in her place anymore. I jumped at the chance to take it off her hands! It is smaller than a regular love seat but larger than a chair. It even has a pull out bed (a small one anyway).

This couch was the first thing that was moved into my craft room after the floor was put in. Here is a pic of me and my little girl chillaxin'.

I think it is VERY obvious that I am a tad bit fond of the Flirtatious Designer Specialty Fabric that Stampin' Up! sells. I sewed four of the fat quarters together to make each panel of my curtains. You can hardly see the seems because they are gathered.
I covered the pillows with the same fabric. I got the idea from another Super talented demonstrator Mandy Erickson. She gave instructions for them, but I am not one for patterns so I figured it out by the measurements of my pillow.

The flowers were cut out using the Island Floral die (I used it on a lot of the projects in my craft room). I layered them and hand stiched them together while gathering and puckering them. I used liquid stitch to adhere them to the pillow.
The little pillow is copied directly from a display I saw at Convention......one of the MILLIONS of perks of being a demonstrator. I used liquid stitch to adhere the ribbon that wraps around the pillow. With the stripped ribbon I used my sewing machine to put a running stitch down the edge of it and the pulled and gathered it. Once the ribbon was gathered I tied a knot in one end, put some liquid stitch on it and pinned that right to the center. I circled the ribbon around the knot adhering it with liquid stitch along the way and using pins to hold the ribbon in place while the liquid stitch dried.
Here is a close up of the rosette. I had not taken the pins out yet.

My Inkin' Cute Craft room Business Supply area

This is the little space I have set aside for my Business Materials (Catalogs, order forms, invites etc....) Of course What would a Stampin' UP! business Supply area be if I didn't "Stampify" a little bit? I found this little Pigeon hole shelf at a Garage sale.... Actually an "After Garage Sale" they were packing everything up to go to the second hand store and said I could take what I wanted. I walked away with a TON of free stuff. All this little baby needed was a new coat of paint and it makes the perfect little display!!!
This lamp was salvaged from a sweet lady who passed away in my old neighborhood.
This is what it looked like when I stated. It is hard to tell with the lighting, but it was a dark blue before I spray painted it black.
I made the flowers with ....you guessed it.......the Island Floral Big Shot die. I layered the pieces together and used clear rhinestone brads to stick it right to the lampshade. The brads did a wonderful job of piercing the lampshade on their own.

My Inkin' Cute Craft Room Fireplace

When we first decided to use this room as my Inkin' Cute Craft Room I was not too excited about the fireplace. I could think of a million things I would rather do with the wall space.

That is until I was given the idea for a wow topiary! After that I was all over having a place to showcase TWO of them!
I know, I know, I know....the vinyl is retired! I bought it way back when with the intention of using it in my house someday. That someday is here! The wreath is made with the Flirtatious Designer Series Paper as well as each topiary.

My Inkin' Cute Craft Room Display Hutch

My sweet friend Liz was redecorating her living room and asked if I wanted this china cabinet. I of course said YES!!! It was a dark brown when I got it, so we put a coat of white paint on it and antiqued it a bit. I am happy with the way it turned out.

I had been looking for something for a while to display some projects that I had created or received from other very talented demos.
I don't change the displays out as often as I should, but I love the creative flare it adds to the whole room.

I think you Might notice that I love me a good bargain! I have been very fortunate to be able to find such great items to make my Inkin' Cute Craft Room just the way I want it! This Display with paper shelves was a display at a craft store that went out of business (lets face it no craft store can be as awesome as Stampin' UP!) They were selling all of their paper racks and displays at crazy prices. I was just looking for a paper rack, but the manager told me that I could have the center display for free if I purchased both of the paper shelves that match.

I am sure my husband thought I was crazy for buying it seeing as how it took up almost an entire wall in our apartment living room.

It wasn't until we moved to our house that I have been able to use the display portion as display rather than storage. I thought it would be a great place to showcase my Artisan Award entries (not the actual ones, but the doubles I made).

My Inkin' Cute Bathroom

I know I showed you the bathroom towels I made for the bathroom in my Inkin' Cute Craft Room. Now you get to see the whole thing. The sink area doesn't have any Stampin' Up! stuff, but it matches everything else so I am showing it to you.Here are the towels I made. I used the Flirtatious fabric in strips on the bottoms.

This Shower curtain is one that I am Super proud of!!!! I purchased two clear curtain liners from a local dollar store. I also got the pick curtain rings from the dollar store.

I cut the flowers out with the Island Floral Big shot die (I LOVE this die). I then layered the fabric flowers and connected them with a rhinestone brad. The brad poked right through one of the Shower curtain liners attaching them to the liner. After the flowers were attached to one curtain liner I hung both liners up back to back. This will hide the back of the brads from the inside of the shower.

I attached the flowers in a pattern to look like they were flowing out of the shower head.

My sweet Niece turned two recently. As many two year old children, she has a SLIGHT obsession with Elmo. I couldn't resist the urge to make a card that would get her as excited as her presents.
The Big Shot makes the process of creating this card so easy I almost feel like I am cheating!!!
Easy, yet SOOOOO cute!

Needless to say she loved the card (many adults were impressed as well)!

I am so excited about this months hostess club project, not just because it is Freakin' Cute, but it is also the VERY first project I created in my new Inkin' Cute Stamp Studio!!!

I focused on the holiday mini seeing as how it just came out this month, and really what is not to LOVE?

The accordion medallion was created using the new SIMPLY SCORED and Stampin' Up's SPICE CAKE Designer Series Paper both of which were just introduced in the new mini.
I covered the More Mustard circle with DAZZLING DETAILS creating a luscious bling!
I tore a one inch strip of the SPICE CAKE designer Fabric to go through one of the holes, down under the box of crayons, up and out the other hole that had been punched with the crop-a-dial and then tied a knot at the top. Now when you pull on the fabric the box will pop up and reveal the fun surprise that the cardstock is hiding. Notice that you don't have to know how to sew to use the adorable fabric Stampin' Up! has to offer? It makes a great substitute for ribbon!
I chose the Family Reunion stamp set, so my customers could choose the word or sentiment they want stamped across the front.

With everything going on with the move and finishing the house I had to wait to place my Artisan Award order. Finally I found the time to sit down and figure out what I wanted. I am sure I am the last of the Artisans to place this order. Anyway, it is here and I can't wait to use it!!!

An Established Family

Decor Elements are a simple way to decorate without a lot of work. I added this piece to a mirror I got at a garage sale. I lucked out with how the curves line up so perfectly at the top. I made the display almost identical to the sample Stampin' Up created for the catalog on page 227.

The decor element "established" is perfect for any family because Stampin' Up! has it all set up for you to customize the year of your choice.

One of these days I plan on putting a real photo in that frame.xoxoxo,

A remarkable class

This bookmark is a little handout I created for a class I teach in my church. I am a teacher for the Women's group. I saw a similar bookmark on www.soshelli.com. In fact, Shelli made her bookmark for the same reason I did. I wanted to leave everyone with a little reminder of what we learned that day.
I made it simple because I needed to create quite a few of them, and in the grand tradition of Heather.... I waited until the night before to create them.

My shelving

Has this week been as long for you as it has for me? I spent me labor day weekend waiting for the beautiful floor in my Inkin' Cute Stamp Studio to be laid. I am beyond exited to tell you that it is now in. I mean scream out loud, dance around excited!!!

As soon as the floor was laid and the moldings put in we were set to take the shelving units in. Here they are..... lined up outside and waiting for their new home.
After several trips down the staircase (and one minor fall down it) the shelves are now settled in.
I am still working on getting everything organized and set up. Hang tight and keep checking back to see it all as it comes together.

Craft bathroom towels

In keeping with the towel theme I am showing off the towel display from the bathroom connected to my craft room. I love the way this bathroom is turning out. I am using the Flirtatious Designer Series Paper and Fabric to decorate my craft room, so I took the theme and ran with it while decorating the bathroom.

I used the same towels as the other bathroom. Instead of ruffled ribbon on the bottom I ruffled strips of Stampin' Up!'s designer fabric along the tan stripes. I would love to take credit for this idea myself but it is straight from a convention display. One more reason to be a demonstrator.......tons of ideas!!
I found the towel rack at a garage sale, I do love me a good bargain.

We are getting close to the end result of my very own craft room. I can't wait to share it with you!!!

My new bathroom towels

My main focus lately has been putting a house together. I think it is nearly impossible for me to decorate without tossing in a little (or a lot) of Stampin' UP! Today I am going to show off my bathroom towels. Um yeah, I stampified towels. I started with several of these towels that I got for a killer deal.

I simply sewed some of Stampin' UP!'s sweet Basic Black Stripped ribbon in ruffles along the tan stripes.
With the other towels I rolled them up and tied them with the same ribbon. I put a bundle on each shelf and TA-DA!

Cheryl Lafore's 3-D Cupcake Card

This card is so hard to put into words how amazing it is. There is so much detail that no camera could EVER show it off. We all know I have a SLIGHT obsession with the whole cupcake trend right now, so this card is singin' my favorite tune.

You thought the outside was amazing? Well then have a seat before you see the over the top inside. That is right ladies and gentlemen it is 3-D!!!!
This card along with all of my Artisan swaps will never be used as a greeting card. I have a little shelf that will display ALL of them. So thank you to all of these amazing ladies who put so much hard work into such wonderful pieces of art.

These Stinkin' cute flip flops are made with Stampin' Up!s fabric. Connie removed the plastic "toe things" (Wow....I honestly cannot think of a better name at the moment), and used the Big Shot Fabric Adhesive to iron it right on. YEAH, that is right.....FABRIC WITHOUT SEWING!!!!! I love it!!!
Connie took it to the next level by tying the Striped Melon Mambo bows on them. She made tons of extras as to make sure that everyone would be able to get one in their own size. No way am I putting these on my feet! They are going on display! I am so serious, I even picked a pair to match my (soon to be) Craft Room.
Here is where we see Connie's "above and beyond" come out. She made 2 swaps for us.Connie used the Fun Flowers Big Shot Die to create these spirited flowers. I don't think I could ever stress enough how simple the Big Shot can make crafting. Just run some of Stampin' Up!s designer Series paper through it (you can do 8 layers at a time) and Shazam....you have these!!! I love all the layering on this card. Layering is a great way to give a card a major POW.

Jenn Picard's Gratitude Card

Pictures (especially ones from my camera) do not do this amazingly beautiful card justice. I didn't sit close to Jenn at the Artisan dinner, however I was able to learn a little about her when we all shared a bit about ourselves and what inspired us to enter the contest. She brought me to tears as she told how she was a professional make-up artist, until she was in a car accident that did a lot of damage to her shoulder. The accident left her unable to continue with her career. She has since been able to express her creativity through Stampin' up! and loves what she does!

I can't tell you how much I love the finial press embossing folder that Jenn used on her Gratitude card!!! SOOOOO elegant!

She really seems to have mastered the vintage look. the card is complete when you see the coordinating inside. She has tied in all of the accessories very well.

I am so "grateful" to have met such an amazing woman!

I love how bright and cheery this is!! She used the new triple layer punch on the fishtail pennant. One of my favorite parts of this card is the envelope, she used the postage stamp punch to make a fun edge. Holding the whole thing together is one of the new mini clothes pins.... LOVE IT!!

I showed you my swap that I made for the Artisan Award dinner, well now you get to see all of the amazing swaps I received!

Not only did I get to swap with the other Artisans, but the Concept Artists also participated in our swap. These incredibly talented women design cards, scrapbook layouts and 3-D items for the Stampin' Up! idea book and catalog. I felt like I was in the presence of Royalty (Stampin' Up! Royalty anyway).

This Card was designed and created by Melody Hyde, she is in her first year as a Concept Artist with Stampin' up!. She originally designed this for the catalog (you can see it in there for yourself if you would like).
I love seeing this card close up and having the chance to see the little details that you don't get to see in the catalog.

Artisan Award Dinner place settings

One of my FAVORITE parts of winning the Artisan Award was having dinner with the other nine winners and some of the "big wigs" from Stampin' UP!s home office (including Shelli). My camera was not behaving as a good little camera should, so I had to borrow my friend/ downline's camera. I still need to get the pictures of the actual dinner from her, however until then I have pictures of the place settings that were created just for our dinner.

All of these match the invitation we received in the mail inviting us to the dinner. I have the invite packed up in a box somewhere. As soon as I have my craft room together I will get a picture of that also.

We all had place cards assigning us seats. The adorable name cards were held up by card holders that were available in the "Memento Mall" a demonstrator only area to shop at convention.

Even our menus were Stampified!!!
B-E-A-utiful.........
The best part of the dinner was the "favor".
Just after dinner we opened up these up and found that each of us had our own personalized Artisan Stamp made for us. I can't wait to actually use this!!!
Satmpin' UP! went above and beyond what I ever could have expected. I enjoyed the food, obviously the table setting AND the company. It was so fun to chat with each of these unique women and learn their story.

My craft room......BEFORE

So we moved at the beginning of July, to a house that has space for my very own craft room. The only problem is that it is not done yet. We pulled out all of the carpeting so we can put in wood floors and we are going to paint of course. For those of you who know me are aware that I have been running my business out of my apartment for the last 4 years. I think the only person who is more excited about my craft room is my husband. He can finally sit down in a living room that does not look like a craft store!

We have finished the painting and are ready to put the floors in now. I am crossing my fingers that it is started tomorrow.

Flowers to "die" for

I made this adorable bucket of flowers to go in my new house. We just moved from a 2 bedroom apartment that had no room to an actual house! We are loving it. I have had a ball decorating. One of my favorite things to do is to tie Stampin ' Up! into my decor.

I used the Island floral Big Shot die to cut all of these out, then I crumpled them up, sponged ink on them and put them together with a variety of brads. I used some cheap floral wire and a bucket I had received at Founder's Circle. TaDa!!!!!

August 2011 Hostess Club Project

Hostess Club this month was a fun one (the ladies are so great that it always is though).

I recreated My "Remember When" card that I entered for the Artisan Award Contest. the paper that I originally used retired so I changed it out for stampin' Up!'s -First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper-
The butterfly was cut out on the big shot as well as the circle then we ran it through the big shot again this time using the Perfect polka dots embossing folder. To top it all off we used to two way glue pen on the edges of the butterfly with dazzling diamonds glitter and threw some basic rhinestones on there too. I can't get enough bling!

Remember When Scrapbook page

In my opinion one of the best things about being a demonstrator is attending demonstrator only events and SWAPPING!!!! Convention by far has the most possibilities for swapping due to the shear number of demonstrators attending.

The group that I attend Convention with always has an organized swap. This year i participated in the 12x12 scrapbook page layout swap. Here is what I made.

I Used the Island floral big Shot die to make the flowers that adorn the edge of my page. After I cut them out I simply crumpled them up and layered them, and stuck them together with a brad.

The strips of paper running down the edges were calling my sewing machines name......
I used the Word Play Stamp set to stamp the "Remember When" image.

2011 Artisan Award swap

Ok, Here it is as promised. This is the swap I made for the other nine Artisan Award winners, 2 concept artists, Amy Schwartz (The VP of sales) and Shelli Gardner ( The CEO and Co-founder of Stampin' Up!) Yeah, no sweat right?!? At first when we started talking about doing this swap we were going to swap cards, however some of use feel we excel at 3-D projects. When they gave the option of a card OR 3-D I knew i would do a mini version of my birthday countdown I entered in the AA contest.

I used Galvanized flashing that I got from the roofing section at the home improvement store. I have no idea what it is really intended for, but it came in a size I wanted AND the crop-a-dial punches the holes for the ribbon like it is butter!!

It is a ten day countdown. The nice thing about this verses making the board magnetic with paint is that you can store the cupcakes on the back and put them on front as you countdown.

2011 Artisan Award blog hop Day 10

2011 Artisan Award Bog Hop is almost done. I really hope you have enjoyed seeing all of our projects. Don't forget to stop in tomorrow an see the swaps we made for each other. Didn't you love Jenn Picard's project today?

This is My favorite project I made and the one that started it all. As i said in a previous post this dress was not intended for this contest. My friend and I were talking on the phone one day when she suggested I enter this in the Artisan Award contest. I took her challenge and jumped in.

I have had Several requests for the pattern to create this dress. The good thing is that I feel it is easy enough that it doesn't need a pattern. The bad thing is I also feel that I am not the best at giving instructions. That being said, if you are totally confused after reading this please feel free to contact me with any Q's you might have.

The skirt:

Take two scallop squares that you have cut out on the big shot place them back to back so that the pattern on the material is facing you no matter which side you are looking at. Sew them together on one edge ( 1/4" seam allowance). Repeat this with all of the squares connecting all of the squares needed for the skirt. -the skirt I created is 5 squares high and 24 squares around- I sewed 5 rows of 24 and then sewed those rows together to create a large rectangle. Sew along the part that will be the bottom to prevent any unwanted raveling. Put this to the side and work on the bodice now.

The bodice:

I made the bodice by measuring how many squares fit around my daughters chest. I created the bodice the same as the skirt, however I doubled up the squares to give it a more sturdy fit.

Take four scallop squares and layer them on top of each other. Make sure that you can see the pattern of the material facing out on both sides. Sew all four of them together on one edge with a 1/4" seam allowance. Open those up flat so you have two squares on each side with the seam facing you. Now take two more squares back to back and attach them to a side that has not been sewn on. Continue adding double squares until it is long enough to fit around the girl.

Instead of leaving the scallop edges out I sewed them down giving them a boning look.

I used Stampin' Up! buttons on the back.

The Straps:

You will do the same doubling up to create the straps. After the straps are the length that you need, sew along all of the edges. Now we are at the place where it could get tricky. I measured the straps right on my daughter and marked them with a material marker to know where to sew them on. This is going to be different for each girl. Please note that they are sewn on at an angle. I added one more scallop square to the center of the straps to close the gap in the front.

I explained how to make the flowers in an earlier post. Just jump back two or three posts to find those instructions.
Now to attach the skirt to the bodice I sewed all along the top of the skirt leaving plenty of thread at the beginning and the end. Simply pull on one of the threads and gather the skirt until it is gathered to the size of the bodice. Pin it on to the bodice and attach it by sewing it.

The dress is almost complete, all you have to do is sew the skirt together in the back. I left a couple inches of room under the buttons to allow her to get in and out of the dress easily.

2011 Artisan Award blog hop Day 9

Day 9!?! WOW! We are almost done! You should be coming From Jenn Pucard's Blog. Sorry about the posts being out of order. We went out of town for a wedding and apparently I am NOT tech savvy!

We are now on to my first 3-D project. This is the perfect project for today because it is MY birthday. "Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me...."

O.K. now that I have that out of my system, on with my project.

I used magnetic paint to cover a picture I had hanging on my wall for WAY too long. Do not use Magnetic spray paint, it takes way to much and holds almost nothing, Go to any home improvement store and buy an entire quart of the stuff your apply with a brush for what you would pay for a can of spray paint at a craft store. Then I painted over that with regular paint. I matched the paint to Pear Pizzazz.

After I created my 30 cupcakes I put them on Stampin' Up!s Magnetic paper. They hold amazingly well to the board!
I have picked out a couple of my favs from the batch.

This is the one I am most proud of.....I LOVE the little bite. I used the scallop circle from the Bitty punch pack to take that bite. I also did the same with an Early Espresso cupcake topper and placed it behind the Pear pizzazz one so It looks like chocolate cake under the frosting.
My basket weave.....
My Son's absolute favorite..... the cherry topped one! I just punched out a bunch of cherries with the cupcake punch from Real Red cardstock. I used an Early Espresso Stampin' Write Marker to color the stems and the covered them with Crystal Effects.
finally to hold the cupcake magnets while you countdown, I decorated this envelope.

This was the last scrapbook page I designed. I knew I wanted to do at least one page without kids (This is very hard as a mom Who thinks hers are adorable). I found this picture that my husband took on his mission that he served for our Church. He was called to Portugal and spent 6 months of the two years in Cape Verde Africa.
If you look at the picture it is not hard to see why this caught his eye. These two boys have created a game out of a box, wire and a stone. WOW! I think THEY deserve an award for creativity.
Although there are quite a bit of components to this page I wanted to be sure to keep the focus on the simplicity if the picture so I only used two colors: Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.

Welcome back everyone! you should just have come from Jenn Picard's AMAZING project of the day!

Let jump right into this next project..... The "MY DRESS" page. This page was of course inspired by the dress I made for my little girl which happens to be one of my 3-D projects I entered for the Artisan Award.

This dress design was actually not originally created for the contest. I had made a blessing dress for my 2 month old baby out of all white material using the scallop square die. Why did I use the scallop square die? Well.... I don't know how to use patterns very well, and honestly HATE using them. The scallop square allowed me to have strait lines without having to cut anything out on that crazy tissue paper stuff! So Anyway, While I was making that dress for my baby, my 4 year old kept asking when I was going to make hers..... and here it is:
The flowers Are made from the Springtime vintage material.they match the ones I put on the dress on the upper right hand shoulder. I cut them out on the circles die with the big shot. I sewed all of the circles back to back with another one so that when they bend and fold you can see pattern from all directions. I then took three different sized circles and gathered and bunched until it looked the way I wanted and took a needle and thread to sew the three together.
Of course I could NOT resist using the Springtime Vintage Designer Series paper to match the material.

This is my favorite shot of her in the dress.
I used the Big Shot to cut out the words MY DRESS from chipboard and decided to leave it raw. You can also see in this shot that I embossed a lined image from the Flower Fancy stamp set on the background, it seemed to flow well with the pattern of the material and paper.

We are in full swing with our 2011 Artisan Award Blog Hop. There are ten of us each showing one of our winning projects a day. This is the first of Three Scrapbook pages. My husband took this picture on his phone and sent it to me years ago. When the Make-a-Monster stamp set came out I couldn't help but laugh when I noticed my son posed the same way as one of the monsters.
The picture is even funnier if you notice the saying on my sons shirt (had to point that out).
I made sure this scrapbook page had plenty of texture and elements throughout. I wanted to make sure that any one piece could stand on it's own. Most of the circles have a different background image stamped on it or has been run through the big shot with a textured impressions embossing folder. I also really enjoy sewing and thought some playful stitching along the top and bottom would be fun.
I watercolored the monsters using Blender pens and Stampin' Pastels.

2011 Artisan Award blog hop Day 5

Here we go..... Half way through our hop. For those of you who are new to the concept; there are ten winners of the Artisan award. We are posting one project a day for ten days (Some of us will be doing an eleventh day). We each have a link to the next Artisans blog so you can just hop from blog to blog and see all of our creations. We have created a circle for you so you will end up back here if this is where you started. If you are already in the cycle you should have just come from Jenn Picard's blog. I have really enjoyed getting a closer look at her designs!

Now here is my project for today. I think this is my favorite card out of all five. I love how all of the elements flow so well and it looks simple.
I stamped the image on Watercolor paper with Staze on ink. then I watercolored the image using aquapainters. I used Stampin' Up!'s window sheets over the stamped image. I lined all four edges with Sticky strip. First I laid the Ribbon down on the bottom strip with a ruffled look. Then I put Silver Glass glitter on all of the remaining edges. The glitter now has more of a champagne look to it from oxidizing. I love how the glass glitter changes like that!

The flowers were created with the scallop circle punch. I punched out two of each color and soaked them in Stampin' Mist, crumpled them into the shape I wanted and let them dry.

This card is a super fun one. If you pull on the ribbon at the top it slides a portion of the card up to reveal the inside. I made this a birthday invite. Who would not love to get this invite in the mail? I am tellin' you...... I made it and I still would!!!

I will be showing the swap that I made for the ladies when we had dinner together after I have shown you all 10 projects. Alright, this card was one of the last ones I created, however I had it designed in my head almost from the start. I started with a brighter color combo and ended up with this, I think it looks classier withe the Subtles.
Layering is always going on with my projects. I was told by my Friend and downline a while ago that the key to a simple card looking amazing is LAYERS!!!
I Stamped the lined image on my project, then took the coordinating bold image stamped it in the same color ink, stamped it off twice on a piece of scratch paper then I stamped it on top of my lined image. This gave me a lighter shade of the same color and accents the 2 step stamp perfectly.
The fold I used to make the "envelope" portion is an oldie but goodie! I will for sure do a tutorial later for those of you who are not familiar with it.

My project today is my "Friends" card. The contest rules specify that they want to see a variety of styles throughout our projects. My style is more shabby Chic, so this card was fun to see what I was capable of in the vintage area.

I love how much texture this vintage card has, I distress, the edges curled them with a bone folder to break down the fibers and used a textured impressions embossing folder. Not to mention how beautiful Stampin Up!'s antique brads are!

This is the first card I created after my Friend Jan challenged me to enter the Artisan contest. The sentiment "Remember When" seems all too fitting for this card. I designed it almost a full year ago! I am not a very successful last minute crafter, so I started early allowing plenty of time to play with my projects and not have to put my other job (as a mom) on hold.

I will miss this designer series paper...... but there are always beautiful packs that follow and fill that hole in my crafting world.

The focus of the card is butterfly. This is cut out with the big shot allowing me to cut all four of the layers at once.... I don't think I could stress the fact enough that the big shot is a crafters dream!!!

Exciting Update!

Okay, Okay, Okay! I feel a little bit guilty not having posted in so loooooooong after the big news was announced officially on the Stampin' Up! Website today. So here is my first update in years. I am fortunate enough to be considered one of Stampin' Up!'s 2011 Artisan award winners. This is an artistic contest that Stampin' Up! holds . To enter you have to create 2 3-D projects, 3 Scrapbook Pages and 5 cards. I sent my entry in along with who knows how many other entrants and was somehow chosen as one of the ten winners. There is a TON of hard work that goes into each entry (I would hate to be the judge).

Anyway It has been forever since I posted. I had a baby last year and obviously had a hard time getting on to blog. I have kept my business going (earning the last two cruses) and of course expressing myself through creating!

I can't share my projects with you until the have showed them on display at Convention in mid July. Believe me I won't miss a beat posting those as soon as I can. Until then I can't post without at least one picture:

This is the card I created to announce my daughters birth. The stamp set and glitter used is retiring this month so be sure to get it before it is gone!

Making chores "Beary Fun"

Ever since I saw the new Build-a-Bear stamp sets and dies in the new holiday mini I was sold! I have used them to make paper dolls with clothes for my little girl, and today I made some adorable chore charts for both of my little ones using the same dies. Look at how cute they turned out!
I made the names with the Stampin' Up! Alphabet Simple Letters (set of four) Sizzix dies, the big shot and chipboard. I love how I was able to cut the chipboard and designer series paper at the same time!

The word CHORES was cut out on the "Big Shot" using the Go Go boots Alphabet (set of 12) medium sizzlets dies.

To make the chore charts re-usable I put a window sheet over the top of the portion I write on(with a dry erase marker) so I can change their chores as needed. Crystal effects allowed me to glue it on while being nearly invisible.

Welcome Baby "B"

Today is a very exciting day for my family, my little sister welcomed her first child into the world! She is beautiful.
So as I looked through my cards deciding on a card to give to her a "Welcome baby" one did not quite sum it up. She had a complicated delivery and I want her to know how much we all appreciate what she did to bring this beautiful baby girl into our lives. I chose this card I got in a Convention swap. This simple yet elegant card uses the most popular stamp that Stampin' Up! sells:

Tonight I held a "Money Free Auction" with my hostess club members and those who have held a hostess club with me in the last Stampin' Up! year.
Each person filled out a survey when they arrived. They got points for each question they qualified for. Most of the questions were stamping related, like receive 5 points for each card you have sent out in the last 30 days. Some were not, like 5 points if you prefer the winter season as opposed to summer. They also had a chance to earn more points by bringing a pot luck dish and/or a hand stamped item. After finishing the survey they traded it in for "Stampin dollars" and the bidding began!
I had two tables covered with retired product and handmade items I have acquired over some time now.
I had a blast seeing what items were "hot". I also enjoyed visiting with my friends and eating the yummy food they brought. I should have snapped a picture of the amazing food that was brought tonight!

Sorry I did not get picture of everybody who attended, I was the auctioneer and got caught up in the bidding!!!
I plan on making this an annual event, so be sure to book a workshop or sign up for a club so you don't miss out on this next year!

Founder's Circle Day 4

Day four of founder's Circle was amazing!
I slept in (just because I could). When I finally woke up and made my way downstairs they were setting up lunch. The dessert looked so yummy I had to snap a picture of it before I even looked at what was being served as the main dish. I chose the chocolate moose, the mint stick in it was to die for!

Lunch was a pizza bar, with several choices from plain cheese to BBQ chicken mmmm!
After lunch I went back upstairs for my in-room massage. The massage therapist Shelbie was so sweet and took away any stress that I may have had lingering.
I kicked back and relaxed in my room until the "Final Night Event". They kept this a secret as long as they could. We boarded the buses and were given a card that said either Chicken or Pork. When we registered for Founder's 2 months ago they asked which we would prefer.

After a 15 minute bus ride we arrived at a golf course. The first thing we did was all get together for our group photo of all the founder's Circle achievers. This is the view from where I was sitting during the photo.
Me and my new friend Cindy, she is a demo here in the Salt lake area.
I loved seeing all of the fun things that the demos have done with Stampin' Up's Big Shot. This is a beautiful broach made by cutting out different patterns of material with the big shot and layering it.
This is a fun and funky necklace made using the same technique.
The once again beautiful table setting. We were on the patio of the country club.

Before we sat we were informed that we were not to touch the boxes on our tables until told otherwise.
We had a few minutes to get a photo of everyone sitting at our table. Check out the amazing scenery we had to enjoy during our delicious meal.
Ok, so remember the box we were not supposed to touch? Shelli got up and gave a beautiful analogy tying our gardening and butterfly theme into our currently blooming and growing businesses. When she finished she told us to open the boxes and let the LIVE butterflies inside fly away! It was a bit different than even Shelli was expecting when half of them decided to stick around for a while.

After most of the butterflies had finally taken flight, the superb food started!
Um, can we say YUM!

The sun started to set over the redrock cliffs while were dining, the colors were awesome!

After dessert aUPS man came in asking for Shelli he was holding a box that had "CONFIDENTIAL" written all over it. We were asked to put our cameras away (sorry). All I can tell you is we saw a sneek peek of something I cannot wait to share!!!!!!

This is the last of my Founder's Circle Posts. Even though we had the next morning before I had to fly home I could not bring myself to take pictures of the last leg of my journey!

Founders Circle Day 3

This was a day that I have looked forward to for a long time! We went to Kanab, the town where the Stampin' Up! manufacturing facility is. It is a two hour drive from St. George. Those who chose to attend this activity rode there on two buses.

This is KelleeSue and me in front of the bus I was assigned to. They had everybody who was attending founder's Circle for the first time on the same bus, Shelli was on our bus on the way down. She did a small Q&A with us and really listened to what we had to say!

When we got on the bus there was a huge basket of treats to pick out of. Throughout the trip KelleeSue walked up and down the aisle and let us grab as much as we would like.
It was seriously a huge basket!
This is the Kanab Facility. There are not that many pics of the inside, the manufacturing line secret is kept on the down low to give them an edge on their competitors. i can tell you that I got to help make a couple stamp sets. It stared out with four, but I ruined two! I think after today they are glad that I sell them and not make them!
Above the facility Shelli has set up an apartment to stay in when she or other staff members are visiting. It is amazing, the decor has Shelli written all over it!

I so just want to kick back in that tub (can I call it a tub or is it in a different catagory?)!
I promise this pic does not do it justuce.
While we were in kanab we went to the city park that the Gardner family funded.
We ate luch at the park, each lunch was packed in a little pail (I am so cvering it with decor elements when I get home).

I found strips of Designer series paper at the bottom of my pail, of course matching the color scheme of the entire trip!
For dessert one of the choices was Creme Brulee. This is shelli's favorite dessert so they have it every year at Founder's Circle.
I however had the Chocolate cheesecake.
The park has pieces of unused stamp rubber instead of sand. I could not believe how bouncy it was to walk on.

You could even see images on some of the pieces.

I sat by Mary fish to and from Kanab. She is also a Rising Star.
To keep us entertained on the ride back we played lots of games, bingo included (I WON)! There were so many prizes given out, I went home with three things!
I forgot to put my card back into my camera, so the rest of my pics for the day have been saved to the camera, not my card. I will have the pics of the pajama night business share posted later.

Founders Circle Day 2

So this post has a ton of pics (there was a ton of fun stuff that happened) so I will make the words short and let you enjoy!

This is actually around 1:00 a.m. last night when I went down to the gathering place to kick it with some other demos and it was only the staff there. They had just finished setting up the rest of the room.....So cute..... I cannot believe how much work the staff has put into it!

This morning I had my class on the new MY DIGITAL STUDIO. I loved learning so much about the new digital scrapbooking program that will be available to everybody October 1st!
My class mates were a blast! this is a few of them pretending to be Charlies Angels.

when we finished we were given a little booklet of what we reviewed with a junk drive attached so we could take our projects home with us. I LOVE all the little perks Stampin' Up! gives us!
This story is too funny not to be told. My Friend Kelly forgot her phone charger and asked the front desk if they might have one on hand.........well they did, they had a whole box full of them! She did find one that worked for her and her phone is now fully charged.
Somebody please remind me to take my charger with me, it is not as if the hotel needs any more!
Ok, OK, OK.... I know a post is much mor fun with some ideas, so here you go. I wish I remember who it was who made these, but the name is not coming to me. I love how she used these colors in christmas projects..... doesn't this get you so excited for Christmas?

This is a demo, jill Olsen holding up a quilt she made using the big shot! the gathering place has baskets FULL of different quilts that she made all over for us to cuddle in as we hang out and of course snack ( the candy jars are never empty)

So I was down in the gathering place working on a digital album with MY DIGITAL STUDIO when Shelli Gardner's daughter Sara invited me to sit with them and work on my project. It was super fun, Shelli's mom was there also. We had fun talking about our hubbies who just graduated with there masters degrees. Mine graduated with Shelli's son-in-law Jason. They also celebrated with me when I got a message from Dave telling me that he has an interview tomorrow!
While I worked on my project Shelli and Sara were working on this adorable invite to a halloween party they are having in celebration of Shanna, Shelli's daughter, coming home from her mission soon.
You can find this exact project in the catalog. I love every thing about this!

We were given some free time (and some money) to have dinner where we would like.....a group of us went to Olive garden.

Maxine Conrad drove down to hang out with us. She qualified to be a founder's Circle attendee, but because she works for the Stampin' Up! office she was not able to actually participate. We were all so glad to see her!
Talk about service!!!!! because there were so many of us there were several servers helping our group at once. they were so attentive that right before I emptied my drink, I had 3 of them in front of me.... I am not one to complain about over service! We did have a good laugh about it as I tried to choose if I should go right to left or left to right!

This is me in front of the stage, it was unbelievable! The flash did not work very well, and no cameras were allowed during the performance. I can't wait to tell my son that I saw a camel on stage......yes a real camel and lots of other animals!
The bus ride home, with my good friend Kelly. This is going to be the last pic you see of her like this, she is undergoing a major make over tomorrow! Stampin' Up! Has given us access to some wonderful salons and spas. I might break down and get a massage (they come to our rooms)!
Forget mints!!!! I love Stampin' Up! pillow gifts!!!! Tonight is was wonderful to walk in my room and find a book, the SECRET GARDEN personally signed by Shelli!

I know I said I would keep it short, but I did not want to leave anything out! I also went swimming to finish my night off. I was the only one in the pool. I can't get over how relaxing it was swimming in a pool lined with palm trees at night (there are some lights around).

Founders Circle Day 1 dinner

Founder's circle Welcome dinner was not a let down. Of course before it started we sat in the Gathering place and snacked on the yummy treats. This is me with Kelly Acheson and Penny Thomas we laughed pretty hard as we tried to get the rest of our butterflies swaped, it seems that most demos did not take naps as we chose to do. No worries though we managed to find some other people who are actually relaxing on this "relaxing" trip who could trade with us. The prize was a stamp set that we will use to make our make-and-takes through out Founder's Circle.

These are all of my colorful butterflies by the stamp set that I received. I took the images out for the picture because this stamp set is not available until January, so stay tuned!
The tables were beautiful. they were Stampin' Up! colors and flowed with everything down to the bag we got at convention.
there was a personal note to us from Shelli congratulating us on all of our accomplishments this past year.... Super cute card!

I took the napkin ring, not sure what I will do with it, but it was too cute be be left alone!

Kelly, Dawn Olchefske and me. I had to laugh when Dawn told me they joked about me being "Stalker Girl"! In my defense I wanted to be Rising Star and who better to ask for advice than the top Demos?

Yummy food, I think the pictures do all of the talking here!!!

The server told us the flowers were edible, so me being the only one brave enough to see if they were tasty to took a bite........ not that great, just because it is edible does not mean you should eat it!
Dessert was so rich I litterally could ony take one bite and was done. My hubby is probably shaking his head at this that I let good chocolate go to waste, but what can I say.... Sorry!
In the true fashion of a scrapbooker i took pictures of all of the food as did everyone at my table. A picture of them taking a picture of cake was too good to pass up.

Founder' Circle day 1 Rising Star meeting

We had a Rising Star meeting tonight. This consisted of all of the Rising Stars being put in the hot seat with questions about how they became one of the top 15 demonstrators in their first year. I loved that Shelli the Co-founder of the company sat right down on the floor and listened to all of us.
When the meeting was done I had to get a quick picture with Linsay Mahon who is one of the top Demos in Canada. She is super sweet. I love how down to earth everybody is here.

This Bonnie Thurber and I showing off just how stinkin' Cute we really are. Bonnie is an event coordinator and always does amazing presentations.
Ruth Bingle was a Rising Star last year and was more than happy to answer any questions that I had through out the year. She truly played a huge part in my earning the Rising Star #7 AND Demonstrator of the Year #49!!!! Love that woman!

Founder's Circle day one pillow gift

What better way to finish an already amazing day than with a generous pillow gift filled with stampin' goodies! I had heard that we would get pillow gifts but I had no idea how much they give!

Founders Circle Day 1 part one

I can't believe it is here, Founder's Circle is amazing and I am only a few hours into it. Stampin' Up! Started my trip off in style by fling me into St. George. Living in Utah I have only ever driven to St. George, so this was kinda fun to hop on a little plane (I do mean little) and fly to my destination.

I thought it was fun to get off the plane and have somebody holding up a sign waiting for me.
We are staying at the Courtyard Marriott. They have reserved the entire hotel, so we can feel free to roam where we would like.

The "gathering place" is a place where we can sit and relax, talk stamp and snack. Candy carts, jars and dishes are all over.....mmmmmm!!!! I just ate the best chocolate covered toffee ever!

When we arrived our luggage was taken strait to our rooms and we went to the Gathering place to pick up our getting to know you game. We were given 5 butterflies of the same color in a little net and asked to answer the question on them. After they were filled out we have to trade them with 5 other people who all have different colors. When we turn in 5 different colors we get a surprise, I can't wait!

then we headed to the lunch buffet and ate a super delicious taco salad created just the way we wanted it!
The gathering place has couches to lounge on that are decorated with pillows sporting the cottage wall Designer series paper patterns! I think I am in love!

After visiting with some fun people I went up to my room (yes I get my own) and found it to be personalized with my name on the front door!

Founders Circle Swap

I am getting ready to attend Stampin' Up's Founder's Circle, this is an exclusive event for the top Demonstrators. This year 125 people earned it out of 60,000 demonstrators. I am fortunate enough to be counted in the 125. One of the activities I am looking forward to is the Card swap. Each person makes 125 of the same card and then we "SWAP" and take home 125 different cards. Can you imagine a swap with the top 125 demonstrators in the company? I CANNOT WAIT!!!!
